LSA farms recognized during “Araw ng Pamilyang Magsasaka”

Mr. Florencio Flores, owner of Flor and Daisy’s Agricultural Farm in Sariaya, Quezon receives certificate of recognition for the Outstanding Coconut Farmer category.

LUCENA CITY, Quezon - As part of the festivities of the annual Niyogyugan Festival, hosted by the Provincial Government of Quezon, farmers and fisher folks gathered for the “Araw ng Pamilyang Magsasaka.”

With the theme, “Negosyanteng Magsasaka, Sandigan ng Maunlad na Ekonomiya,” the activity aims to recognize the outstanding contributions of farmers, farm families, fisher folks and other stakeholders to the development if agricultural and fishery industries in the province.

Four of ATI CALABARZON’s LSA (Learning Site for Agriculture) farm cooperators received certificates of recognition, namely:

Ms. Nenieveh F. Glinoga, owner of Glinoga Organic Farm in Pitogo, Quezon – Outstanding Coconut Farmer
Mr. Florencio A. Flores, owner of Flor and Daisy’s Agricultural Farm in Sariaya, Quezon – Outstanding High Value Crops Farmer
Ms. Alicia A. Valdoria, owner of Yumi’s Farm in Tayabas, Quezon – Outstanding Organic Farmer
Mayao Parada Agricultural Integrated High School in Lucena City – Outstanding Gulayan sa Paaralan

Chairperson, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, Senator Cynthia Villar was the guest speaker on the event. Villar in her speech, stressed the need to seek sustainable solutions to achieve food security in the future and encourage the farmers to have an entrepreneurial mindset.

“Araw ng Pamilyang Magsasaka” was held at the Quezon Convention Center, Lucena City last August 22, 2019, attended by ATI IV-A Center Director, Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico with Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, Mr. Romeo Rodil and Mr. Ric Jason Arreza.

Niyogyugan Festival is a feast held every August, in celebration of the bountiful coconut harvest of Quezonians. The event also serves as an avenue to promote local products and delicacies of all municipalities in the province.
