Agricultural Technologies thru Internet at Home or commonly known as ATI@Home offered another online seminar on hydroponics last Saturday dubbed as “Hydroponics: Grow Big with the Help of Tubig.”

With a total of 860 real-time live viewers, licensed agriculturists and owner of Hearticulture Hydroponics and Halamans, Mr. Jose Diego E. Roxas, shared his expertise and knowledge to the audience. He explained the importance of hydroponics, as well as factors to consider on its establishment, alternative set-up of hydroponics to commercial and large scale production of crops using hydroponics, and other general techniques.

One of the participants, Ms. Yenne Santos shares her insights in the last webinar.

“I really have a limited idea about hydroponics and I'm very much thankful to the ATI-Region IV-A team for conducting free webinars like this,” said Santos. “Napakarami ko pong natutunan and I'm looking forward to attending more of your webinars. Because of you, I'm spending my ECQ productively,” she also added on her comment in the Facebook group.
ATI@Home also encourages and inspires the youth and general public to engage in home-grown food production.

In her public post, one of the participants, Ms. Jewel Estanislao Sakamoto stated, “Libre pero maraming natutunan at natulungang magkaroon ng kaalaman ukol sa iba pang paraan ng pagtatanim bukod sa paggamit ng lupa.” She added that it became bonding to her family. “Pati tita, tito, at lola ko dahil sa tv namin sa bahay [pinanood] ang webinar.”

ATI@Home is a free online seminar where a participant only needs to register and watch the live stream of the discussion through a created Facebook group. Moreover, the group serves as a platform where members can interact with the resource speaker and other members. By the end of the webinar, participants will be asked to fill out an evaluation form which entitles them to a certificate of participation.

ATI@Home supports the “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontrasa COVID-19, also dubbed as “Plant, Plant, Plant” of the Department of Agriculture to encourage households to plant and help ensure food availability and sustain the agricultural production amidst the current threat.

“I am a newbie in the field of planting and agriculture. However, after listening and watching Sir Diego's webinar last Saturday about Hydroponics, I felt like I can really be successful in this stuff. He has shown most of what I want to know, from germinating to sowing the seeds, to transferring them to their containers, with mixing the solution and different set-ups that I can use,” Ms. Blanca Flor Ligutan stated in her public comment.

ATI@Home continues to inspire and bring newbies and agri-enthusiasts closer to agriculture. The 4th installment of this webinar series was held last May 9, 2020.
