ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal - Underscoring the value of natural farming and safe food production, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region IV-A in partnership with Flor's Nature Haven and Ed Tarriela Learning Center & Farm led the "Resetang Menos Gastos for Everyday Wellness" a training that promotes the use of herbs and vegetables for everyday healing and wellness.
ATI Region IV-A's certified Learning Site cooperators, nurses, and farmers within the community attended the three-day training which involved lectures, demonstration, open forum and farm tour at Flor's Nature Haven.
Former Secretary of the Department of Health, Dr. Jaime Z. Galvez-Tan who served as Resource Person discussed the benefits of healing herbs, DOH's Top 10 medicinal plants, Doc Tan's most common formulation, some healing recipes and performed demonstration on massage therapy (Pisil, Pindot, Pihit/ Haplos, Hilot, Hagod).
Ms. Priscilla Tibor, Head Nurse from Anawim Lay Mission Foundation shared her learnings in the wellness training. "Ang lahat na tinalakay at itinuro ni Dr. Jimmy Tan ay malaking tulong sa mga alaga naming matatanda na abandoned westerlies sa Anawim Lay Mission. Bilang nurse ng Institution, malaking tulong ang natutunan kong mga halamang-gamot na hindi na lang puro tabletang gamot ang ibibigay. Kaya excited akong makauwi upang maturuan ko na ang mga caregiver at ma-apply ang aking natutunan. Salamat po sa inyong lahat."
Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico, Center Director of ATI Region IV-A and PASS Chief, Ms. Sherylou Alfaro graced the opening program. CD Cosico encouraged the participants to apply and share what they will learn to their family and community.
This training was held on August 2 to 4, 2018 at Flor's Nature Haven and Ed Tarriela Learning Center & Farm, one of the Center's certified Extension Service Provider (ESP).
