CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - A School-on-the Air (SOA) focused on Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System aired its pilot broadcast on July 11, 2018.
Over 500 organic practitioners, students, housewives, and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from the targeted 12 municipalities in the province tuned in to the program from 12:00NN - 1:00PM at Radyo Natin Laguna, 106.3FM. The program was also broadcasted live on ATI CaLaBaRZon's official page, reaching a wider audience.
Program hosts, Ms. Maridelle G. Jaurigue from ATI Region IV-A and Mr. Richard Orlain, Station Manager of Radyo Natin welcomed the first two radio teachers of the program, Rolando Maningas, Ph.D and Ms. Soledad Leal, both from ATI Region IV-A. Dr. Maningas discussed the mechanics of the SOA as a distance learning modality and the lessons of the program while Ms. Leal focused on the services and programs of the Center.
As one of the regular programs of ATI's network of training centers, the ATI in CaLaBaRZon continues to maximize SOA as a tool for agricultural extension and information dissemination on a complete Package of Technology (POT).
"Usapang OA: Radyo Eskwela ukol sa IDOFS," will be aired live every Wednesday until October 10, 2018 to provide information on how to establish an organic farm, following IDOFS, with components such as organic vegetable production, organic chicken, pig production, organic fertilizer production and organic concoctions/extracts. Experts from UPLB - College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), organic practitioners, and LGU technicians will be invited to talk about these topics in the program.
