ATI Leads Successful Pilot Run of Virtual Regional Farm Youth Summit

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - The Agricultural Training Institute Region IV-A, in cooperation with the Provincial Agriculture Office 4H Coordinators in the region, successfully conducted the first virtual Regional Farm Youth Summit 2021.

One hundred fifty (150) young farmers all over the region joined the three-day activity through an online platform. Three remarkable resource persons in the field of entrepreneurship and leadership were invited to impart their knowledgeable experience during the program.

Center Director, Ms. Marites Piamonte- Cosico opened the virtual summit on the first day and showed support to the 4-H clubs in CALABARZON. Additionally, one of the resource speakers, Mr. Reden Mark Costales “Agrillenial” started his discussion about "Agriculture Promotion through Online Platform" as the newest trend for today’s generation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ricmel Falqueza focused on “Youth Leadership towards Sustainable Agriculture” to inspire the 4Hers in pursuing farming as a vocation. During the last day, Mr. Ericson Atanacio encouraged the participants to venture in agri-entreprenuership as he discussed the topic “Youth in Agribusiness.”

One of the participants, Noriecel Bejasa from San Pascual, Batangas shared her rewarding experiences during the virtual summit.

“Sobrang saya ko po at isa pong malaking karangalan na makasali po sa ganitong aktibidad at marami po kaming natutunan. Sana po ay magtuloy-tuloy ang mga ganitong mga gawain na sumusuporta po sa mga kabataan, lalo na po sa pagsasaka.”

The highlight of the closing program was the awarding of winners for the various contests. Representing Quezon province, Dan Rave Anareta from the Municipality of Sampaloc, won the Video Making Contest, followed by Laguna and Cavite.

Meanwhile, Ms. Noricelle Bejasa together Mr. Marwin De Torres from the province of Batangas bagged the first prize in the Singing and Song Writing Contest, with Laguna, Rizal and Quezon province as runners-up. In his closing message, Acting Assistant Center Director, Dr. Rolando V. Maningas congratulated the winners and participants of the summit.

The Regional Farm Youth Summit 2021 held on June 8 – 11, 2021 was hosted by 4H Focal Person from ATI Calabarzon, Mr. Roy Roger Victoria II and Mr. Darren Bayna from Partnerships and Accreditation Services Section.
