AgriKuwento showcases urban farming practices, inspires public

Top 2 winning video entry of Milane Bagsit from Batangas City shows crop and ornamental plants in her backyard.

To promote urban agriculture in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON supports the Plant, Plant, Plant Program of the Department of Agriculture through the AgriKuwento contest. AgriKuwento is a one to two-minute short story video of personal experiences in home gardening through the use of social media.

Individuals from CALABARZON region practicing backyard farming participated in the online contest. A total of 12 official video entries were posted in ATI CALABARZON official Facebook page. Top five (5) video entries with most likes in Facebook page will receive prizes.

The top five (5) video entries with the most number of likes are:

1. April Joy Macatangay of Los Baños, Laguna – 1,403 likes
2. Milane Bagsit of Batangas City, Batangas – 1,041 likes
3. Sarah Jane Maurillo of Lucena City, Quezon – 1,011 likes
4. Luis Quinsanos of Tayabas City, Quezon – 966 likes
5. Mary Ann Maigue of Kawit, Cavite – 923 likes

Meanwhile, prizes are as follows (worth of prepaid load cards):

Winner – P 3,000.00
Top 2 – P 2,500.00
Top 3 – P 2,000.00
Top 4 – P 1,000.00
Top 5 – P 1,000.00

Prizes will be awarded once the Enhanced Community Quarantine is lifted.

AgriKuwento encourages and inspires everyone to engage into farming. It also aims for food availability and security amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
