SAN JUAN, Batangas - Committed to expand the Native Pig industry in the country, the PNPONAI or Philippine Native Pig Owners Network Association Inc. held its 2nd Native Pig Raisers General Assembly last March 17, 2018 at Don Leon Nature Farm in this municipality.
With this year's theme, "Joining Hands Towards The Development of the Philippine Native Pig Industry," the assembly aimed to promote native pig raising, discuss the benefits of being part of a Local Community Unit and build network among native pig raisers and government organizations. Lectures and forum on national and provincial government projects/support for native pig raising and production costing as well as farm tour comprised the one-day activity.
Organized in 2015 by Mr. Maximillan Cabriga, the PNPONAI is a non-stock, non-profit organization devoted to bring together raisers and help them develop products of their own using their native pigs.
The Agricultural Training Institute through its Regional Training Center IV-A continuously facilitates trainings and other activities to boost the native pig production industry in the region. "The decision to use the technologies offered by the Institution(s) lies on you. We are just here to guide you" said ATI RTC IV-A Center Director, Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico in her message.
Members and invited visitors of the PNPONAI attended the activity, including the Chief of Staff Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, Atty. Rhaegee B. Tamana who represented Villar SIPAG.
