PAGBILAO, Quezon - The Agricultural Training Institute – CALABARZON in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Quezon conducted the Training on Organic-based Rice Production with Extension Support on March 9-11, 2021. The training aims to enhance the knowledge and technical capability of the participants on organic-based rice production.
The participants are composed of 22 individuals (13 AEWs and nine farmer-leaders) from various municipalities in Quezon province. Mr. Eduardo Paolo Ramos from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Mr. Joel Abrao together with Mr. Dario Durango and Mr. Lanilo Morales from MASIPAG Inc. (Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura) served as resource persons in the said activity.
The partner organization, MASIPAG Inc. is a farmer-led network of people’s organizations, NGOs and scientists working towards the sustainable use and management of biodiversity through farmers’ control of genetic and biological resources, agricultural production and associated knowledge.
A first-time attendee and OFW, Mr. Macario Torres, expressed his gratitude to ATI CALABARZON for organizing and funding the training.
"I was really impressed! Maraming salamat sa ATI CALABARZON at sa mga taga-MASIPAG Inc. sa kanilang passion, experiences at skills na naibahagi sa ating lahat," shares Torres.
Provincial Organic Agriculture Focal Person, Ms. Arlina Reyes also extended gratitude to ATI for accommodating the training request intended for the Agricultural Extension Workers and farmer leaders in the province.
By the end of the training, farmer-leaders received starter kits composed of 2 bags vermicast, molasses, blue drum, red rice seeds, haras and pick mattock with handle.
