Sen. Villar encourages Magsasaka Siyentista as partner in poverty alleviation

LAS PIÑAS, NCR – Senator Cynthia A. Villar, held a meeting with the Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) regional presidents and members from Cavite and Laguna province in Region IV-A on February 22, 2018.

Senator Villar urged the MS to become partners of the government in poverty alleviation by promoting farming in their localities. She also challenged them to become accredited Farm School and Learning Site of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).

Center Directors of ATI Regional Training Centers including ATI IV-A Center Director, Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico RBO Focal Person, Ms. Lizbeth David, and Partnerships Accreditation Section Chief, Ms. Sherylou Alfaro also attended the meeting with the 20 MS delegates from the two provinces.

Magsasaka Siyentista or Farmer Scientist Association is one of the Rural Based Organizations (RBO) assisted by ATI. Meanwhile, as part of their role in the Farmers’ Information Technology Services (FITS) staff, they provide farmer-to-farmer advisory services and showcase S&T interventions in their farm.
