Farmers to produce organically-grown vegetables and root crops in their barangays

Participants prepare the concoctions of organic fertilizers to be produced, following the Philippine National Standards (PNS) on Organic Agriculture.

AMADEO, Cavite - Cognizant of its roles and responsibilities, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center IV-A takes its part in seizing new economic opportunities to improve the livelihood of farmers to become viable actors in agricultural development through trainings, seminars, technical briefings, among others. In line with this, the Center conducted the Training on Integrated Diversified Organic Farming Systems (IDOFS) with the farmers of Amadeo, Cavite. The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical capability of the participants on Organic Agriculture and IDOFS.

Topics on Integrated Diversified Organic Farming Systems (IDOFS), Philippine National Standards on Organic Agriculture (PNS on OA) as well as Climate Change and Promoting Healthy Lifestyle among the participants comprised the lectures. Meanwhile, the hands-on activity focused on the preparation of different concoctions that conform to standards stipulated in the Philippine National Standards (PNS) on Organic Agriculture. The farmers also developed their action plans and illustrated their commitment in moving forward toward the production of organically grown vegetables, fruits and root crops in their respective barangays.

A total of 25 farmers coming from different barangays in the afore mentioned municipality took part in the activity, held on January 30 – February 1, 2018 at Morningside Farms, Amadeo, Cavite.
