Butuan City - To address the aging human resource in agriculture, the Agricultural Training Institute implements the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Internship Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ) to deserving young farmers.
The YFFLTP aims to develop the youth to become farmer leaders and agricultural entrepreneurs through an 11-month internship.
After successfully completing the Pre-Departure Orientation Course (PDOC) and the final evaluation, a group of 14 young farmers arrived in Japan last November 22, 2021. They are set to start their hands-on training on farming techniques and management in the assigned host farms. While on a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Japan, the interns have their Nihongo online classes in preparation for their actual farm exposure.
One of the interns is Mr. Ken Orland R. Aclo of barangay Cagniog, Surigao City. After the program, the interns are expected to share the knowledge and skills learned from the internship for a period of not less than two years after their return to the Philippines. This is by establishing a model or demonstration farm or by assisting their respective community or province in the training.
The YFFLTPJ is implemented in collaboration with the Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC).
