NLP, ATI-RTC I advocate ASF-free community

BALUNGAO, Pangasinan – A total of 60 swine farmer-participants from various barangays of Balungao, Pangasinan attended the training on the Prevention and Control of African Swine Fever (ASF) held on July 23-24, 2020 at the Balungao Municipal Hall. This advocacy aims to create awareness on the prevention and control of African Swine Fever (ASF) to minimize its spread in Region I.

Dr. Arcely Robeniol, District VI Veterinarian and Resource Speaker of the two-day activity, shared updates on ASF. “The spread of ASF is a serious concern in the region, especially that hog raising is part of farmer’s livelihood. We need to encourage the hog raisers to be alert, smart, and compliant to the protocols in order to prevent the further spread of the disease. So far, in the province of Pangasinan, the disease is still in control since only one (1) municipality was identified to have ASF,” Dr. Arcely said.

She further stressed that as ASF continues to spread throughout the country especially in Luzon, the basic prevention protocols of isolation, quarantine, and most especially, hygiene, sanitation and disinfection must be followed.

For its part, ATI-RTC I continues to support the livestock industry through this kind of activity.

Meanwhile, the training was spearheaded by ATI-RTC I and LGU- Balungao, Pangasinan.
