Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan – Over the past years, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) has been a partner of different State Universities and Colleges in honing and molding undergraduate students pursuing agriculture-related courses through internship program.
Filipinos are known as one of the major coffee consumers in the world, and Philippines is one of the few countries currently producing the four (4) commercially-viable varieties, namely: Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa. The country’s coffee industry has found growing market opportunities as it is expected to rise annually by 7.13% from 2022-2025.
The Philippines is a major producer of bananas. It produces additional types and plantains, such as the Lakatan and the Saba/Cardaba, in addition to the Cavendish banana for export. Bananas is one of the most commonly traded fruits and the country ranks second among significant producers.
The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) in collaboration with the Office of Provincial Veterinary (OPVet) of the four provinces in the region continued their efforts to train Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs).
Rosario, La Union- “This training made me realize more that agriculture activities choose no gender. I appreciate that activities like goat production and management can be both perform by men and women.”, Ms. Mary Joyce R. Ramos of Rosario, La Union said during the Skills Training on Goat Production and Management for Rural-based Organizations (RBO) in La Union.
With the aim to promote, propagate, further develop and implement the practice of organic agriculture in region 1 towards a competitive and sustainable organic industry, ATI Ilocos Region launched the School On-the-Air on Organic Agriculture Production (SOA-OAP) on May 17, 2022, participated by over 700 farmer leaders, farm cooperators, and agri-enthusiasts around the region.
The Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network (RAFEN) 1 conducted the first semestral meeting for calendar year 2022 on May 18-19, 2022 at ATI-CAR, La Trinidad, Benguet to discuss its role to the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) and its plan in the current year.
The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 1 conducted Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Mango Production on April 25-29, 2022 at ATI-RTC I Satellite Training Center, Brgy. Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
“To capacitate, you must be capacitated first”. This is one of the mantras of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in capacitating its private extension associates to become effective and efficient partners in providing extension services.
