Let our Swine Shine: A Step towards Increasing Productivity and Income

SAN ESTEBAN, Ilocos Sur - In response to the goal of increasing productivity and income of the beneficiaries under the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Extension Network (RAFEN) 1 Convergence Initiative Program, dubbed as Timpuyog idiay away, Dur-as inna Iburay/Damayan sa Barangay, Ginhawa Ibibigay, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC 1) awarded 31 fattening piglets to the Cadulon Rural Improvement Club (RIC) of Brgy. Cabaroan, San Esteban, Ilocos Sur on August 31, 2018.

The piglets served as extension support to the 31 RICs who successfully completed the three-day Training on Swine Production held on May 29-31, 2018. The training course has prepared them for the swine production livelihood project as they were equipped with knowledge and skills on swine production and management including the economic benefits they can get from it.

ATI-RTC 1 as the lead of the foregoing project, and the Municipal Agriculture Office as the RAFEN Program frontliners, led the ceremonial turnover. The project was strengthened through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between ATI-RTC 1 and the Cadulon RIC.

Part of the turn-over ceremony is the awarding of certificate of appreciation to LGU- San Esteban through the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Ray A. Elaydo for the strong and invaluable support in the implementation of programs, projects, activities and other Agriculture and Fishery Extension (AFE) interventions of the Institute.
