LS, SPA, PESP Quarterly Meeting held at Vaughn’s Farm

ROSARIO, La Union - The Samahang Itinataguyod ang Kaunlaran ng Agri-Turismo sa Rehiyon Uno, Inc. (1 SIKAT) officers and members, and cooperators of the various learning sites (LS), schools for practical agriculture (SPAs) and private extension service providers (PESPs) in Region I came together for their 2nd Quarterly Meeting last July 19, 2018 at Vaughn’s Farm, Caronuan West, Rosario, La Union.

Led by 1 Sikat President, Ms. Lea Astrude Santiago, the meeting encompassed the presentation of the financial report of 1 SIKAT’s recently accomplished 1st Regional Herbal and Farm Tourism Summit, which was held last March 8-9, 2018 at the ATI-RTC I Multi-Purpose Hall, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. The financial report was presented by 1 SIKAT’s Treasurer, Dr. Manolita Navarro.

Moreover, ATI-RTC I’s upcoming events and trainings were discussed by ESP/LS/SPA Focal Person Almera Montano. Future trainings include Bee keeping, Animal Health Care, Training on Native Pig Production, and Training on Meat Processing. Meanwhile, ATI Center Director Rogelio Evangelista shared the updates of ATI-RTC I’s on-going programs like the Garden in the School (4-H), Organic Households Model Gardens of AGTALON Inc. (National PESP), and the benefits/advantages of the farm family models.

One of the highlights of the Quarterly Meeting was the sharing of best practices among the cooperators. Mr. Eliseo Pera of Balaoan, La Union shared his farm’s best practices in handling his squash, papaya and quail egg productions.

After the meeting, Dr. Elino Requidan, owner of Vaughn’s Farm, gave a farm tour to the participants. He showed his aesthetic mini zoo and imparted his knowledge on his “Babuyang Walang Amoy”. The meeting ended with a group picture.
