ESP gathering, an opportunity for partnership and improvement

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan – In order to promote and strengthen a big brother-small brother partnership in agricultural extension, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I) recently conducted the Regional Quarterly Meeting of Accredited Learning Sites, Schools for Practical Agriculture, Farm Tourism Partners, and Private Extension Service Providers (ESPs). About 70 ESPs, farm owners, cooperators and partners across the region gathered up for the said activity, which was held at the ATI-RTC I, Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

The meeting was not only designed to converge the group but to give updates on the recent development of their farms and showcase their unique farming system and innovations. It was worth the time, effort and expense as the one-day activity was packed with interesting and worthwhile happenings. From seminars on sustainable and organic agriculture, updates on Department of Trade and Industry’s programs and projects, sharing of farm experiences and best practices, to planning and preparation of upcoming events, the activities kept the men and women in agriculture impressively involved and motivated.

The event concluded successfully with the awarding of certificates to eight newly accredited learning sites. The new learning sites include Paraiso del Valour in Alaminos City, Pangasinan; Riverbank Eco Farm in Mangaldan, Pangasinan; Medalo’s Organic and Healing Garden in Calasiao, Pangasinan; ECOFARME (Elia Cacbay Organic Farm in Alaminos for a Richer Mother Earth) in Alaminos City, Pangasinan; Bambu sa Pinas in Pugo, La Union; Pacoy’s Farm in San Fernando City, La Union; Don Joaquin Farms in Bacnotan, La Union; and, Vaughn’s Farm in Rosario, La Union.
