BURGOS, La Union – To provide extension and other services while showcasing climate resilient commodities and technologies, ATI-RTC I awarded Climate Resilient Agriculture Livelihood Assistance to thirty (30) farmers from Brgy. Imelda, Burgos, La Union. The awarding ceremony was conducted last October 17, 2017 in Brgy. Imelda, Burgos, La Union.
Sixteen cattle, 140 native piglets with complete vaccination, 3,000 pineapple suckers and tiger grass, and 300 rambutan seedlings were handed to the farmer-beneficiaries in the area.
Dr. Rogelio C. Evangelista, ATI-RTC I Center Director, inspired the crowd through his message. “As we always say at ATI – ‘Reaching out, building dreams, changing lives’, we aim to reach down to the grassroots areas just to deliver change and provide quality services to people. We at ATI endeavor to uplift the lives of every individual,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hon. Robert B. Madarang, Jr., Municipal Mayor of Burgos, La Union expressed his heartwarming message to ATI and partner agencies that made the program successful. “Let us work hand-in-hand and do our best to help ourselves”, he stressed. He also encouraged everyone to visit the municipal office where he posted a reflection in the bulletin board quoting, “Ask not what Burgos can do for you but, together what we can do for the progress of Burgos”.
RAFEN I agencies such as PCC-La Union, DMMSU, PCIC, NIA, DENR, and DSWD also joined the distribution of livelihood project. RAFEN I has always been a partner of ATI-RTC I in delivering services not only in Burgos but throughout the region.
Prior to the awarding of livelihood assistance, series of training were provided to the farmer-beneficiaries to equip them with the proper knowledge and skills they needed for the project. These include Training on Diversified Farming Systems (September 13-15, 2017) and Livestock Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Production (September 20-21, 2017).
The ATI-RTC I, RAFEN I members, and LGU-MAO of Burgos, La Union will regularly monitor the activities of the farmer-beneficiaries to ensure sustainable development.
