BATAC CITY, Ilocos Norte - The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials Preparation on June 13-15, 2017 at the University Training Center-Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Batac City, Ilocos Norte. With the collaborative efforts of MMSU, the activity benefited 55 FITS staff from LGUs of Ilocos Norte, Extension coordinators and faculty extension workers of the various colleges and units of MMSU. The activity aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of the participants in developing IEC materials.

Topics on Writing News and Feature Articles for Publications and IEC Materials Preparation such as Brochures, Leaflet, Poster, Flyer and other printed materials were given emphasis by the two high caliber resource speakers from the university.
To reinforce the lecture/discussion, participants were tasked to produce a leaflet and power point presentations which was later presented to the group for critiquing. Also, participants had a hands-on activity in photography as photos are integral part in crafting IEC materials.

Dr. Nathaniel Alibuyog, MMSU-Vice President for Research and Extension said “The seminar is timely and relevant as the Local Government Units and the University (MMSU) Extension Workers need to enhance their knowledge and skills in developing IEC Materials to supplement the knowledge learned by clients in various trainings and other extension and development activities”.
