ATI-RTC I continuosly promotes Rabbit Production in Region I

In fulfillment to the agreements made during the awarding of the after training support of the AGRITALK 2021 conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I), the Local Government Unit of Mangaldan, has complied and awarded three (3) rabbit doe to the members of Mangaldan Rabbit Breeders Association on March 16, 2022 at the Municipal Hall of Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

Being the co-implementer in the program, LGU-Mangaldan facilitated in the monitoring of the extension support as well as the transfer of the “breeders” produced by the first batch of the program recipients in the locality. Currently, through the program’s tagline, “Pagpaparami ng Rabbit gawing habit: Tugon sa Kakulangan ng Karne ATIng makakamit”, there were 3 out of 20 recipients of the program who were able to pass-on their produced “doe” to another participants. These recipients were also the participants of the program and residents of Mangaldan. For monitoring purposes, the institute strategically planned that participants in the nearby towns of Mangaldan and Sta. Barbara were given priority to ensure the viability of the implementation.

Ms. Joana Marie B. Roaring, Ms. Lerma Enriquez and Ms. Jean Vergara, both Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) of LGU-Mangaldan were the participants of the program who shared these rabbits to Ligaya Y. Serran – resident of Brgy Amansabina, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Ramon A. Calicdan- Brgy. Guiguilonen, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, and Marinel R. Solis- Brgy. David, Mangaldan, Pangasinan who were members of the association. These three new beneficiaries are also expected to share the same produce to other participants.

AGRITALK 2021 was in support to the National Livestock Program in its call for alternative livestock against African Swine Fever (ASF) pandemic throughout the country. It aims to provide seminar on rabbit production as alternative livestock and support the Department of Agriculture’s campaign on the issues of scarcity of the produced meat.

Being true to its commitment, ATI-RTC I will continue to support the country’s goal in promoting rabbit production in the region to fill the gap in the domestic production and importation of swine meat in the country through information dissemination.
