57th FishCon Week Highlights Conservation, Protection of PH Aquatic Resources

To raise awareness on the conservation and protection of the country's aquatic resources, the Fish Conservation Week (FishCon) is observed every third week of September through Proclamation No. 316 of 2017.

This year’s theme, “Karagatan ay Pangalagaan upang Ani at Kita ay Makamtan sa Gitna ng Pandemyang Hamon sa Bayan,” encourages fishers and consumers to remain steadfast in protecting the fisheries and aquatic resources as the nation's food and the fisherfolks' income depend on the health of the seas.

September is Development Policy Research Month

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), together with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), joins the nation in observing the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September.

This year’s theme, “Bouncing Back Together: Innovating Governance for the New Normal,” focuses on innovating governance across all sectors of society to steer the country towards renewed growth and dynamism. It also encourages local and national decision-makers to cultivate a strong culture of research and the use of data and evidence in policy-making and planning.

Nat’l S&T Week Highlights Contributions to SDGs

To highlight the significant contributions of science and technology in national development, the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) is celebrated every third week of July through Proclamation No. 169 of 1993.

This year's theme, "Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development," aims to strengthen the latest innovations in technologies, research, and products that help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

CALABARZON—About 15 government and private media personnel based in Metro Manila visited successful organic farms in the region to learn about the basics of organic farming, March 25-27.

Panagyaman Rice Festival Highlights Successes of Rice Farmers

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joins the nation in the celebration of Panagyaman Rice Festival this April.

Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 606, s.2004, the Panagyaman Rice Festival is celebrated to recognize the contributions and successes of small farmers who have been the backbone in the campaign for a hunger-free Philippines. April marks the beginning of harvesting for rice and other food crops during dry season, a period that gives significance to the nationwide festivities in May and June.
