Urban Agriculture, Family Farming Advocates to Headline Culmination of Farmers’ & Fisherfolk’s Month

DILIMAN, Quezon City—As the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month comes to a close, partners from the public sector, private groups, and other organizations are set to join the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as they lead two events to further the efforts in urban agriculture and family farming.

DA-ATI Hosts Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Family Farming

QUEZON CITY --- The Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) convened some officials of DA bureaus and agencies for its first of the series of consultative meetings to develop the Philippines’ National Action Plan on Family Farming (NAPFF). This is in support to the United Nations’ Decade of Family Farming 2019-2020 (UNDFF) in addressing the challenges experienced by farm families.

A farmer from Padre Garcia, Batangas is among two Filipinas recognized in this year’s Women of the Future (WOF) Southeast Asia Awards.

Gloria Morris, founder and president of MoCA Family Farm RLearning Center, was named “Mentor of the Year” in the program which aims to build a platform to showcase regional emerging leaders. The winners were announced in an online event streamed via YouTube on June 25.

QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila—In response to the declining number of youth interested in farming, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) launched “AgriKids: Illustrate, Formulate, and Demonstrate.”

The project is made possible in partnership with the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation. It aims to promote the importance of agriculture not only to children but also to every Filipino household.

1st National Congress Highlights Role of Family Farming in Food Security

QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila—Recognizing the important role of family farming, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) spearheaded the first National Farm Family Congress.

With the theme “The Role of Family Farming in Meeting the Food Security Challenge”, the congress served as a way to further promote family farming as farmers and their families shared their stories on their journey to becoming farmer leaders and agricultural entrepreneurs.

With the challenges that extension workers and farmers face, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to explore various strategies to improve its efforts as the extension and training arm of the Department of Agriculture. In over 30 years, the ATI has celebrated various successes and learned from the lessons during hard times. Nonetheless, we are proud to be standing the test of time through the support of our partners and the clientele themselves.
