Landcare is among the approaches that researchers like the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) have identified to help solve problems such as soil erosion and acidity, as well as maintain the livelihoods of farmers.
This particular book features individual stories on landcare and its development in the country. It includes stories of people and communities in Misamis Oriental, particularly in Claveria, Lantapan, and Ned.
It is divided into six sections that discusses: landcare pioneers; farmers-driven landcare; landcare facilitators; landcare involving governments; landcare that involves broader community; and the future of landcare. In summary, the book gave some tips in involving farmers in landcare. To wit: supporting the development of landcare groups; supporting landcare group members; promoting landcare to others; and developing partnerships, among others.
This book was produced by the Philippines – Australia Landcare project. It is part of a monograph series that consists results of original researches supported by ACIAR.
