DILIMAN, Quezon City—Thirty one agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in the Ilocos Region are taking on a new role in the food security efforts amid the pandemic by helping foster better understanding on modern biotechnology among farmers.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Efforts to develop policies on agricultural and fisheries extension (AFE) are now being re-shaped to ensure the continued growth of farming and fishing communities even in the new normal.

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), through its Policy and Planning Division (PPD), has drawn up priorities in terms of enhancing AFE-related policies and standards to continue to address the needs of farmers, fishers, and agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in the country.

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - In support to the Republic Act No. 11203 otherwise known as the "Rice Tariffication Law," the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Calabarzon rolls out the first Training of Trainers (TOT) on Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

The training follows the standard protocols on social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand washing to ensure prime health and safety of the participants and trainers.

MABALACAT, Pampanga—To drive the seed industry to develop improved varieties, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is now working with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and some private institutions for the establishment of a National Seed Technology Park at the New Clark City.

According to Agriculture Secretary William Dar, the government must continue to partner with the local government units and the private sectors, to increase food sufficiency levels, and modernize and industrialize the country’s agri-fishery sector.

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) will continue its operations for activities under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) in the coming weeks following the "new normal" protocols.

Shortly after the first RCEF anniversary celebration held last March 5 in Pangasinan, some activities were halted due to the implementation of community quarantine across the nation starting in the second half of March.
