BJMP, ATI Join Forces Towards Urban Food Security

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Food security is everyone’s concern, including those deprived of liberty. This year, a new partnership between the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) will help address this inclusively.

The BJMP and ATI just strengthened their ties through a Memorandum of Agreement that  warrants BJMP’s vital role in broadening the Urban Agriculture Program (UAP) at the National Capital Region (NCR).

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture (DA) recognized 13 individuals and nine organizations for their outstanding contributions in the country’s agriculture and fisheries sector during the “49th Gawad Saka: Parangal sa Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda” presented virtually, December 14.

Gawad Saka is an annual search led by the DA, together with its bureaus and attached agencies, that aims to pay tribute to the achievements of farmers and fishers in the country. This was first launched as the “Search for Outstanding Farmers of the Year” in 1970.

TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite—As the global pandemic still “rages on,” Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan underscores his support to the promotion of digital technology among Filipino farmers and fishers.

In his keynote speech during the virtual Techno Gabay Program (TGP) 2020 Summit of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) in CALABARZON, Pangilinan stressed that various technologies already exist that can be used to lower the risks or losses of farmers and, thus, help them earn more.

‘Binhi Para sa Pamayanan’ Enlists Extension Partners

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Four agricultural organizations from Quezon City and CALABARZON have signed up to help the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) boost the promotion of urban agriculture through the “Binhi Para sa Pamayanan” Program.

These organizations, which are certified learning sites and extension partners of the ATI, are first to join the program which aims to produce and distribute ready-to-plant vegetable seedlings to ensure healthy and nutritious food in the local communities.
