Senator Francis Pangilinan during the virtual TGP 2020 Summit.

TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite—As the global pandemic still “rages on,” Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan underscores his support to the promotion of digital technology among Filipino farmers and fishers.

In his keynote speech during the virtual Techno Gabay Program (TGP) 2020 Summit of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) in CALABARZON, Pangilinan stressed that various technologies already exist that can be used to lower the risks or losses of farmers and, thus, help them earn more.

Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers and Magsasaka Siyentistas (MS) nationwide are dedicating their resources to help their respective communities despite limitations in mobility this quarantine period.

Agriculture offices in different local government units (LGUs) that operate FITS Centers and partner farmers who serve as MS have opted to continue providing agricultural services amid the ongoing community quarantine measures. This is to help address the needs not only of farming and fishing communities but also of other households in their locality.

Eyes like searchlights

I was given the opportunity to visit FITS (Farmers Information and Technology Service) centers and farms of our Magsasaka Siyentistas (MS) for the search for the best and the outstanding. I wasn't an evaluator but I forced myself to observe and to notice like someone examining the evidence.

My attention over the "small stuff" supplied me the insights why they are outrunning the rest.
