Organic Production of Potato in the Highlands

Posted by:

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) funded a study on organic production of potato in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The research was conducted by a team from the Benguet State University (BSU). This is inline with their efforts to increase the productivity of organic farms through the development and promotion of organic agriculture production technologies, management systems, and products, among others.

Inside this information bulletin are the outputs of the funded projects such as the Variety Evaluation, On-farm Trials and Seed Production of Organic Vegetables in CAR; Organic Fertilizers and Microbials for Improved Soil Fertility in Organic Vegetable Production in CAR; and Development of Pest Management Products and Systems for Organic Vegetable Production in CAR. It also includes information about the products and systems on varietal evaluation; pests and diseases, and soil management of growing organic potato in the highlands, from land preparation to planting and harvesting.

This publication was authored by BSU's Dr. Belinda A. Tad-awan, Dr. Luciana M. Villanueva, Dr. Carlito P. Laurean, Dr. Asuncion L. Nagpala, Professor Jocelyn C. Perez and Mr. Darwin A. Basquial.
