I would like to thank those who participated in guessing the letter “e” of e-landscaping.

I was amazed by the variety of answers (21 word combinations!) submitted via Facebook. Some were really scholarly guesses like environmental, ecological, economical, extensive, extended, elevated, evolving, entrepreneurial, extraordinary, eco-friendly and exotic. Some were out of this world such as erotic (?), exciting, everything, e-learner’s, excited-much, edong’s, echos and eklavu.

The event was held in January 2012 but I missed posting about it. So here it is in December, retro mode of course.

It's ATI's 25th anniversary, quite an auspicious day for giving out awards, a perfect day for receiving one. But what's with the ABBA song? Later.

It was a usual week-long celebration, but this time ATI honored 25 of its institutional/individual partners. I felt esteemed to be one of them.

The citation reads:

It’s been a busy year, to say the least. No doubt our training center is not alone in saying this. Perhaps the entire ATI network can honestly say that it has been a year of work, work, work.

Relevance in the midst of all the drudgery – therein lies the challenge.

Sometimes (or too often?) our work becomes too exacting, demanding, or mandatory, that we forget we should look not just on the numbers, but also particularly on the results – what people really need, not just report indicators.

It is another of those once-in-a-lifetime calendar days, this 12/12/12. Though really just representing a short day format, it is nevertheless, the last time that you'll see calendar days align. The next one will be a century later, in Jan. 1, 2101 when it's 01/01/01. Lucky day or not, I wouldn't notice. Definitely, 12/11 is more relevant for me. It's e-Learning's [for agriculture and fisheries] birthday!

My talk-points for the 2011 assessment and planning workshop on e-extension.

We hear a lot of statements in the field regarding the e-extension program of ATI right after we conduct briefings and or advocacies.

Most of these are queries on how the program works, how we monitor enrollees, how we sent out certificates, how much time do these learners spent to internet cafes in order to finish one (1) course. Or how can they reach or contact us to give briefings to their organization, colleagues and circle of friends. These and more are just one of the many classic experiences we encounter in the field.
