Metro Residents Look to Soilless Farming for Agri Productivity

DILIMAN, Quezon City—People from the cities are finding different ways to grow their own food as seen during the Free Seminar on Hydroponics.

In this activity of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), some 250 farmers and farming enthusiasts were introduced to the soilless technique of growing vegetables. They learned the basic concepts of hydroponics, its system components, types, and the management of plants.

ATI Regional Training Centers to Jumpstart RCEF Activities

DILIMAN, Quezon City—In line with the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL), the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held a meeting to ensure a common understanding of the programs and services under the law among its network of training centers.

This meeting, dubbed as “Demystifying Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF),” convened the center directors, Rice Program focal persons, and planning and information officers of all ATI regional training centers.

Module Writeshop Readies Rice Extension Program Roll-out

CLARK, Pampanga—Efforts to fully implement the Rice Tariffication Law continues as concerned agencies in the Rice Extension Services Program (RESP), under the law’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), convened for a writeshop for related training modules.

Spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the writeshop gathered focal persons in training, curriculum writers, and the communications team of the RCEF-RESP Technical Working Group to harmonize training tools, delivery plans, and activities under the program.

25 Young Farmers Now Certified Organic Agriculture Experts

NAUJAN, Oriental Mindoro—Twenty five young farmers now hold National Certification (NC) II on Organic Agriculture (OA) Production, adding to the pool of organic farmer successors in the country.

This is after a week-long training program of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The group of participants is composed of batch 2018 trainees of the Young Filipino Farmer Leaders’ Training Program in Japan, Gawad Saka awardees, and agriculturists from ATI Central Office.

Dev’t Policy Research Month Seeks for Local Actions for Global Challenges

The Agricultural Training Institute is one with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) in the celebration of the 17th Development Policy Research Month (DPRM).
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 247, the DPRM is held every September to promote and draw nationwide awareness on the importance of policy research in the formulation of development plans, programs, and policies.

DA, DOH Assure Safe Consumption of Pork, Pork Products

DILIMAN, Quezon City – To show that pork, and other meat products are safe for public consumption, the Department of Agriculture (DA) conducted a boodle fight featuring various pork-based dishes.

This is despite positive results of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the country, following the reported death cases of pigs in Luzon.

Secretaries William Dar of DA, and Francisco Duque of the Department of Health, led the activity, together with different hog industry stakeholders.

ATI Supports ABS-CBN’s Public Service Caravan

TAYTAY, Rizal—To continually expand the reach of agriculture-related information and knowledge, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) has partnered with the ABS-CBN Corporation in the latter’s series of public service events.

Representatives from ATI facilitated the urban farming seminar during the DZMM Teaching Learning Caring event, held together with the ABS-CBN Kapamilya Love Weekend. This is part of the network’s 65th anniversary celebration.
