Free Seminar on Business Planning Moves Pig Raisers to Rethink

DILIMAN, Quezon City—A few years ago, 51-year-old Henry Cheock started a small pig-raising business, but had to give it up later on because he had little knowledge about the technologies used and the industry considerations.

Now, Cheock is planning to try it again. This time, with a little help from the experts from the Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH).

In a special free seminar held by the ATI, Cheock and 15 other pig husbandry enthusiasts learned the basics of swine business planning.

Swine Production and Preservation Banner this Month's Free Seminar

DILIMAN, Quezon City - Agriculture enthusiasts from different parts of the metro and nearby provinces were oriented on the recommended technologies and practices on management of swine in the Free Seminar on Swine Production and Meat Processing.

Resource speakers from the Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center for Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH) provided lectures and hands-on demonstration regarding the topic. Jenny Hornilla, development management officer from ATI-ITCPH, shared the advantages of swine production at present.

Central Luzon Farmers: ‘There is money in agriculture’

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija—Farmers supported by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) underscored the lucrative side of agriculture as they shared their good practices during the 2nd AgriTalk.

Desiree Duran, president of the Bulacan-based ATI Learning Site (LS) Duran Farm Agribusiness and Training Center Association, Inc., showed how agriculture can be a viable source of income through farm tourism.

Organic Agriculture Buffs Learn Vermicomposting

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Organic agriculture continues to boom in the country and people living in the cities are starting to take interest in farming. Taking advantage of this trend, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) conducted two seminars on organic agriculture for the urban setting this year.

Following the free seminar on organic concoctions held in February, Duran Agribusiness and Training Center farm and training manager Luis Bausa returned to ATI to share about the vermiculture technology for organic farming.
