Defying Gravity

I will not be writing about witches here as the title connotes and I will not mention my impression nor appreciation with the phenomenal song "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked, composed by Stephen Schwartz, which was originally recorded by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth on May 10, 2003, and released on December 16, 2003, since the song was already a certified hit both here and abroad.

Blended Training is the New Flavor

Jiddu Krishnamurti’s quote about education touched me. He said: “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”

These words reverberates my sanity. It may sound cliché but for me it means a lot. Krishnamurti, who was a speaker and writer on matters that concerned humankind, has a point that he wanted us to ponder.

Students Go For an Overnight e-Learning Session

So we got invited to witness how ATI Regional Training Center in Calabarzon held their blended course on goat management with the students of Batangas State University – Lobo Campus. Our KM Coordinators from the ATI Training Centers are given leeway to innovate in promoting and conducting e-learning in their own respective areas. This time, KM Coordinator Dr. Rolando Maningas, (whom we fondly call Doc Olan) from ATI RTC IV-A partnered with BSU in Lobo, Batangas for their students taking up BS Agriculture and BS Forestry.

Who's first?

It's year ending and it's reckoning time. With KM we always recognized the innovativeness and creativeness of each RTC in enhancing access to AFE knowledge products and services. The recognition was no flare, just text sent to all congratulating those in the lead for the most news, first to upload or for a new block. Sometimes it's just like "I appreciate the blog of __ or the innovations of __" and everyone is high because we are a class. Remember: "class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse".

With the challenges that extension workers and farmers face, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to explore various strategies to improve its efforts as the extension and training arm of the Department of Agriculture. In over 30 years, the ATI has celebrated various successes and learned from the lessons during hard times. Nonetheless, we are proud to be standing the test of time through the support of our partners and the clientele themselves. This is the ATI Today, more committed to bring you extension services beyond boundaries.
