ATI-Regional Training Center II Supports RCEF Farm Schools with IEC Materials

CAGAYAN VALLEY -- Aside from disseminating information, education and communication (IEC) materials on Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) and rice technology updates, flipchart on palaycheck system were packaged, reproduced and distributed to farm schools conducting the modified farmers’ field school.

Farm Clustering, Consolidation Needed to Level Up Agri Sector

Starting this year, the Department of Agriculture (DA) will vigorously push for farm clustering and consolidation, being one of the key strategies to level up the Philippine agriculture sector.

“It is important to convince farmers and their respective cooperatives and associations or FCAs to merge and come together to optimize the interventions and assistance provided by the DA and other government agencies,” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar.

World Food Safety Day 2020: Everyone Has a Part to Play

Following the success of the 2019 campaign, this year’s World Food Safety Day (WFSD) will continue to promote awareness and call all players in the farm-to-fork continuum to take part in the food safety movement.

Under the theme “Food safety, everyone’s business”, the international day of commemoration encourages everyone who grows, processes, transports, stores, distributes, sells, prepares, serves, and consumes food; goodwill ambassadors; social media influencers and the general public, especially the youth to make a sustained difference in food safety.

ATI Resumes RCEF Activities via New Normal

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) will continue its operations for activities under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) in the coming weeks following the "new normal" protocols.

Shortly after the first RCEF anniversary celebration held last March 5 in Pangasinan, some activities were halted due to the implementation of community quarantine across the nation starting in the second half of March.

DA Creates “Integrity Circles” to Ensure Graft-Free Agri-Fishery

To ensure efficient, effective, and graft-free use of limited public funds, the Department of Agriculture recently created “integrity circles,” dubbed as “Agriculture Dialogue and Information Network Groups” or ADING.

“This is our response to the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to provide transparency and integrity in all government interventions,” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar.

Farmers, Fishers Take Spotlight as Food Security Frontliners

The Department of Agriculture (DA) kicked off the yearly Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month celebration and launch of the Plant, Plant, Plant program by recognizing outstanding farmers and fisherfolk, ceremonial planting of mango and aromatic dwarf coconut, and inspection of aquaponics prototypes, on May 26, 2020 at the DA Central Office, Quezon City.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar awarded certificates to seven outstanding farmers and fisherfolk during the event, with the theme, “Pagpupugay sa Magsasaka at Mangingisda Natin, Tungo sa Sapat na Pagkain.”
