EAsY Agri Program Provides Scholarship to Hundreds of Youth

DILIMAN, Quezon City – Adhering to the call of the Agriculture Secretary William Dar to engage the youth in the agriculture sector, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) crafted the Educational Assistance for the Youth: Degree Courses in Agriculture, and Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (EAsY Agri). This is a scholarship program intended to support children of small-scale farmers and fishers in the country.

Dar Pushes for Modernization of Rice Industry thru RCEF

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Marking his first anniversary in office, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar addressed the nation with his State of the Philippine Agriculture Report.

Dar emphasized the plans and strategies on the implementation of different programs for the sector. These include modernization which aims for the utilization and promotion of new and appropriate technologies in farming and fisheries.

Applying RCEF's Practical Activity

MARAMAG, Bukidnon – In order to enhance and put into practical activity the theories and concepts that the rice farmer participants of the "Training of Trainers on Production of High Quality Inbred Rice Seeds, Seed Certification and Farm Mechanization" learned, the aforementioned participants were given the opportunity to go to the field and experience rice farming activities.

Ten More RCEF Info Caravans Conducted

CENTRAL VISAYAS – The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 7 in collaboration with the Local Government Units of the priority provinces of Bohol and Negros Oriental conducted additional 10 Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Information Caravan to rice towns, of which nine (9) were from Bohol namely: Ubay, Talibon, Cortes, Bilar, Balilihan, Buenavista, Garcia-Hernandez, Corella and Batuan one (1) from Ayungon, Negros Oriental respectively.

The caravan was conducted from July 15 to July 29, 2020 with a total of 454 farmers briefed.

National Coconut Month Strengthens Commodity Promotion in New Normal

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) kicks off the National Coconut Month celebration on August 5, 2020 via Facebook Live. Bearing the theme, “Masaganang Niyugan Tungo sa Kaginhawaan”, the event pushes for nationwide and global promotion of the benefits of the coconut and the coconut industry.

Following the protocols under the new normal, various activities are set to be launched physically and virtually by the PCA. These include:

"CocoPapremyo", a recognition day for coconut farmers highlighting their best practices and innovative ideas;
