2019 Free Seminar Series Kicks Off with 'Organic Farming for Newbies'

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The 2019 free seminar series of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is off to a good start as 370 individuals came for the first topic, Organic Farming for Newbies.

The participants were welcomed by Milagros Urbano, chief of the ATI Policy and Planning Division. She talked about the benefits of organic agriculture which, she said, is mostly "going back to the basics" of farming.

"Going organic is a long and tedious process. You need to be persistent, patient, and optimistic," she stressed.

Aton Sets New Directions for ATI

DILIMAN, Quezon City—New officer-in-charge (OIC) director, Alfredo Aton, sets the tone for the next few years as the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) turns another leaf under his leadership.

In a meeting with ATI division chiefs, Central Office section chiefs, and training center directors, Aton asked for everyone’s cooperation and support in improving the bureau’s programs and services for the stakeholders and the public.

Interest in Cutflowers Continues to Grow, Thanks to BSU Expertise

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Cutflower remains to be a blooming industry in Benguet and several factors play into the local farmers’ secret to success.

A peek into this secret is what experts from Benguet State University (BSU) offered to around 200 city and rural folks who joined the Free Seminar on Cutflower Production and Flower Arrangement. Among them is Joy Cabales, 34, from Bulacan.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Experts in the field of poultry shared their experiences and knowledge on the Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) Free Seminar on Poultry Production and Processing.

Dr. Rene Santiago from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) of the Department of Agriculture, Raul Rebollos II from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), and Lulu Rivera from Ultima Entrepinoy Forum Center provided lectures, sharing, and demonstrations to the more than 150 attendees of the seminar.
