Free Seminar Highlights Culinary, Medical Importance of Herbs

DILIMAN, Quezon City—To encourage healthy lifestyle and sustainable farming, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held the third of its year-long series of free seminars which focused on production and processing of herbs and spices.

Simultaneous lectures on the culinary and medicinal aspects of herbs and spices were held, with ATI Learning Site for Diversified Organic Farming and Aquaculture cooperator Connie Carillo and Remnant Institute Inc. President Mechelle Palma serving as resource speakers, respectively.

Free Seminar Offers Hands-on Learning on Organic Concoctions

DILIMAN, Quezon City—In its continuous effort to promote organic farming both in rural and urban areas, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held a free seminar on making organic concoctions.

Luis Bausa, Farm and Training Manager of the Duran Farm Agribusiness and Training Center in San Ildefonso, Bulacan, served as the resource person during the seminar. He gave some tips on making various concoctions, natural attractants, and plant extracts which can be used as fertilizer and organic pesticides for plants.

3rd AgriTalk Showcases Different Farming Technologies

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The 3rd AgriTalk 2017, held through the partnership of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and Agriculture Magazine of the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp., served as an avenue to showcase various farming technologies and practices from different parts of the country.

Among these technologies is mushroom production using coffee grounds as demonstrated by John Regie Anthony Jaminal, proprietor of Perfect Mushrooms. Calling in help from some participants, Jaminal explained the process in seven easy steps.

Experts Promote Cassava Enterprise in ATI’s Free Seminar

DILIMAN, Quezon City – What are the uses of cassava? Apparently, there are many.

In his lecture on the recommended practices in cassava production, Dr. Candido Damo, Department of Agriculture’s (DA) technical consultant on cassava production, cited the different uses of this crop, "Apart from food products, cassava is often used in making animal feeds. It can also be used in manufacturing alcohol, medicine, textile, biodegradable products, monosodium glutamate, glue, and plywood."

Free Seminar on Herbs Underscores Wellness, Sustainability

DILIMAN, Quezon City – In the face of today’s growing population, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) takes the opportunity to offer Filipinos more options to attain sustainability through its free seminars.

For July, the ATI, through the Partnerships and Accreditation Division, organized free seminars on Herbs and Spices Production and Processing which raised awareness on the correct medicinal and culinary uses of herbs as well as the farming aspects involved.
