e-Learning Usage Surges in 2020

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The e-Learning Program for Agriculture and Fisheries reached a new milestone amid the COVID-19 pandemic as it recorded over 112,000 enrollees in 2020.

With the implementation of the community lockdowns during the onset of the pandemic last year, the ATI intensified its campaign to engage agriculture stakeholders and enthusiasts to sign up and enroll in the free e-Learning courses. The goal is to help individuals access various information resources on agri-fishery technologies without sacrificing their health and safety.

DILIMAN, Quezon City— The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), has partnered with four barangays in Caloocan and Quezon cities for the establishment of “Greenhouse Village” in support to the urban agriculture initiative of the “Plant, Plant, Plant” Program.

Key ATI officials signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with representatives from barangays 179 and 180 in Caloocan, and Payatas and Tandang Sora in Quezon City which will serve as pilot areas for this undertaking.

Gawad Saka Recognizes Hard Work of Farmers, Fishers Amid Pandemic

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture (DA) recognized 13 individuals and nine organizations for their outstanding contributions in the country’s agriculture and fisheries sector during the “49th Gawad Saka: Parangal sa Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda” presented virtually, December 14.

Gawad Saka is an annual search led by the DA, together with its bureaus and attached agencies, that aims to pay tribute to the achievements of farmers and fishers in the country. This was first launched as the “Search for Outstanding Farmers of the Year” in 1970.

‘Binhi Para sa Pamayanan’ Enlists Extension Partners

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Four agricultural organizations from Quezon City and CALABARZON have signed up to help the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) boost the promotion of urban agriculture through the “Binhi Para sa Pamayanan” Program.

These organizations, which are certified learning sites and extension partners of the ATI, are first to join the program which aims to produce and distribute ready-to-plant vegetable seedlings to ensure healthy and nutritious food in the local communities.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) Central Office has retained certification for its Quality Management System (QMS) under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2015) after a successful virtual audit last November 20, 2020 by TUV-SUD PSB Philippines Inc., a management systems solution provider.

The re-certification was issued to the Institute after it demonstrated continued implementation and compliance of its QMS to the international standards.
