DA-CAR Helps Farmers Market their Produce Amidst Enhanced Community Quarantine

The Department of Agriculture – Cordillera Administrative region (DA-CAR) find ways to help Cordillera farmers in marketing their product outside the region amidst the prevailing Enhance Community Quarantine in Luzon.

Just yesterday, the DA-CAR facilitated the transport of vegetable products from Tublay, Benguet to Manila by lending two (2) of its truck as transport. Farmers in Tublay are accordingly faced with difficulty in marketing their products outside the province.

We wish to assure the public that the Department of Agriculture is exerting all efforts to help provide adequate, accessible and affordable food for every Filipino family during this difficult time.

For rice, our major staple, we have enough supply to tide us over towards the lean months. In particular, by the end of the first semester, our rice inventory is good for 67 days.

We will pursue the same level of adequacy for the other major agricultural and fishery commodities.

Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita at ATI Building

The KADIWA on Wheels rolls out today, March 26 t the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), with volumes of fresh vegetables and other agri-products to provide residents in Quezon City access to fresh farm produce at a low price.

According to Agriculture Secretary William Dar, commodities sold at the KADIWA stalls are cheaper by 20 percent than those at the market.

Rice Crop Manager now available as an Android application

Los Banos, Laguna - The Department of Agriculture (DA) and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) launched the working version of the Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Philippines mobile Android application on March 18, 2020. The offline platform can generate and provide personalized recommendations to individual rice farmers on nutrient and crop management, even without an internet connection.

First harvest from RCEF seeds showcases RTL benefit

In celebration of the first year anniversary of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL), Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the ceremonial harvesting using a combine harvester in a farmer’s one-hectare farmlot planted with certified seeds from Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF)-Seed Program on March 5, 2020, in Manaoag, Pangasinan.

With the implementation of the law on tariff, RCEF was created to enhance the productivity and competitiveness through the provision of quality seeds, farm machinery, credit, and extension services.
