DA Allots PHP 400 M for Urban Agri for Household Food Security

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is allotting PHP 400 million under the “Bayanihan to Recover As One Act” or “Bayanihan 2” to further expand the Duterte administration’s urban agriculture program and attain family household food security.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for recently signing “Bayanihan 2” that earmarks an additional fund of PHP 24 billion for the DA to bankroll several initiatives to help perk up the national economy.

QC Schools to Establish Urban Agri Gardens

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) has partnered with the Department of Education-Schools Division Office of Quezon City (DepEd-SDO-QC) to implement an integrated urban agriculture project.

The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by officials of the ATI and DepEd-SDO-QC. This is in support to the DA’s “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Laban sa COVID-19” or “Plant, Plant, Plant” Program.

57th FishCon Week Highlights Conservation, Protection of PH Aquatic Resources

To raise awareness on the conservation and protection of the country's aquatic resources, the Fish Conservation Week (FishCon) is observed every third week of September through Proclamation No. 316 of 2017.

This year’s theme, “Karagatan ay Pangalagaan upang Ani at Kita ay Makamtan sa Gitna ng Pandemyang Hamon sa Bayan,” encourages fishers and consumers to remain steadfast in protecting the fisheries and aquatic resources as the nation's food and the fisherfolks' income depend on the health of the seas.

ATI Joins Urban Agri Info Drive in Caloocan

CALOOCAN CITY—To further support the move of community churches to go into urban agriculture, especially in this time of a pandemic, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) participated in the Agri-tek Eskwela Sessions COVEG 2020 “Gulayamanan” of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Caloocan.

Following the launch of a local urban agriculture project, the Institute provided technical assistance during the community church’s urban farming information drive.

Capacity-building Continues for Adoption of GAP

As part of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) food safety regulatory system, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to increase awareness and build capacities for the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in the country.

In the Virtual Training-Workshop on GAP for Emerging Agricultural Commodities Amid COVID-19 Pandemic, the Institute furthered the campaign on GAP adoption as means to improve food systems and supply and towards ensuring people’s health and wellbeing.

ATI, RBOs Meet to Revitalize Support to Stakeholders

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – To revitalize and sustain the pivotal role of Rural Based Organizations (RBO) as strong partners in the advancement of agriculture sector amidst the “new normal” circumstances, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) spearheaded a virtual meeting on Revitalizing Support to RBO.

The twin goals of the meeting include: updating the RBO’s about existing programs and interventions of Department of Agriculture (DA) and ATI amidst new normal; and planning and consultation on the direction of their organizations for the upcoming year 2021.

ATI RCEF-RESP Conducts Virtual Meeting for CY 2021 Targets

BRGY. LOS ANGELES, Butuan City -- The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP) team attended the virtual meeting on revisiting of calendar year 2021 targets. This is along with Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo of the Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13. The said meeting was hosted by the ATI-Central Office via Google Meet last September 9, 2020.

Four Pilot Barangay FITS Kiosks under RCEF to be established in Koronadal City

KORONADAL CITY -- In the bid to enhance and increase the access of information of the rice farmers relevant to them, the ATI-Regional Training Center 12 thru its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program and Information Services Section conducted an initial field validation in the five top rice-producing barangays in Koronadal City for the Farmer’s Information Technology Services (FITS) Center establishment.

Lambayong Seed Growers benefit from RCEF’s Refresher Course

LAMBAYONG, Sultan Kudarat -- The ATI Regional Training Center 12 through its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program successfully conducted the Refresher Course on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Seed Certification last August 18 to 20, 2020.

The three-day training was held at Lambayong Grain Seed Producer Multipurpose Cooperative in Barangay Didtaras, this Municipality. About 20 seed growers attended the training.
