MARCELO GREEN, Parañaque City – Residents of Marcelo Green Village are now ready to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle through urban agriculture technologies.

This is after an ATIng Gulayan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) Street Caravan was held in the village to provide information on the benefits and viability of urban farming.

Through the activity, the residents learned about soilless growing medium preparation, seed sowing, watering, and organic fertilizer preparation.

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay—To further the implementation of the Food Safety Act of 2013, food safety officers of the Agricultural Training Institute convened for the training of trainers (TOT) on Food Safety Regulations.

Focal persons on food safety and the high value crops development program (HVCDP) from the ATI’s Regional Training Centers participated in this five-day TOT.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Metro Manila partners of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) learned various urban farming technologies during the ATIng Gulayan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) Harvest Festival.

Among the technologies and practices showcased in the one-day activity were drip irrigation system, hydroponics, nursery management, mushroom production, mokusaku technology, vermicomposting, and preparation and application of organic fertilizer.

MAKATI CITY, Metro Manila—As active players in national development, Filipina rice farmers from different parts of the country were celebrated for their contributions and important economic efforts in agriculture.

This was during the Symposium on Women in Rice Farming, held by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in celebration of the Women’s Month. Here, women farmers from selected regions showcased their initiatives and best practices in rice farming.

CABAGAN, Isabela—In line with the thrust to promote white corn as a healthier staple than rice, focal persons of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Corn Program were trained on the production of flint corn and processing of corn grits for food.

These focal persons, who play an important role in expanding the reach of up-to-date corn farming technologies, include program coordinators from DA regional field offices and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) training centers.
