BRIA-FARMERS Learning Event Celebrates Agripreneurship, Partnership

MALATE, Manila – “We learned a lot about farming as a business. We now know that small farmers can be entrepreneurs in their own farms, no matter how big or small the area is,” local farmer technician Nelia Sombiro from Oton, Iloilo said.

Sombiro had this to say about her experience as part of the Better Rice Initiative Asia-Fostering Agriculture and Rice Marketing by improved Education and Rural advisory Services (BRIA-FARMERS) during the project’s culminating activity, also dubbed as the National Learning Event.

Fruitful Knowledge-sharing Marks Free Seminar on Cacao

DILIMAN, Quezon City – The latest free seminar of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), which focused on cacao production and processing, was a sweet success in giving new knowledge and information to around 300 individuals from different locations and walks of life.

ATI Regional Training Center XI Training Specialists Ofelia Sanchez and Richel Zamora talked about the Prospect of Cacao Production as an Enterprise and Cacao Production Technology, Harvest, and Postharvest Practices, respectively.

DA, ATI Jumpstart Urban Agri Project in Marikina

MARIKINA CITY, Metro Manila – The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) are further strengthening efforts in ensuring food security and poverty alleviation in the urban areas.

Following the series of street caravans on urban agriculture this year, the DA and ATI, together with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), are kickstarting yet another project called ‘Urban Agriculture Pagkain Para sa Masa’. Their first stop is the St. Maria De Mattias Center Day-time Socio-educational Center in Marikina.

ATI Kicks Off Urban Agriculture Exhibit

PASAY CITY, Metro Manila – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) once again partners with Agriculture Magazine and Manila Bulletin in the promotion of Filipino farming technologies through the Urban Agriculture expo.

The two-day event will showcase different agricultural products and technologies from around 50 exhibitors from government agencies and private institutions nationwide. Aside from the exhibit, seminars and special demos will also be conducted for the registered 5,800 participants.

3rd AgriTalk Showcases Different Farming Technologies

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The 3rd AgriTalk 2017, held through the partnership of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and Agriculture Magazine of the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp., served as an avenue to showcase various farming technologies and practices from different parts of the country.

Among these technologies is mushroom production using coffee grounds as demonstrated by John Regie Anthony Jaminal, proprietor of Perfect Mushrooms. Calling in help from some participants, Jaminal explained the process in seven easy steps.
