DA to Harness Youth Potential in Agribusiness

QUEZON CITY ---- The Department of Agriculture (DA) took a major leap in its effort to involve the youth in agriculture as it launched another program seen to empower the younger generation on agribusiness.

Dubbed as the Kabataan sa Pagpapaunlad ng Agrikultura at Pangingisda (K-PAP) Program, the KPAP aims to produce young leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in the agriculture and fisheries sector. It will provide appropriate interventions and create opportunities to develop the capacities of the youth and encourage them youth to venture in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

2019 Rice Achievers Awards Celebrate Lifelong Service of Industry Champions

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture (DA), through its bureaus and attached agencies, capped off this year’s National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) with the conduct of the 2019 Rice Achievers Awards (RAA) ceremonies.

RAA is an annual event that recognizes the efforts of outstanding rice producers in the Philippines. It is a way of motivating and showing appreciation for institutions, groups, and individuals for their contributions to the food sufficiency thrust.

ATI Receives ISO Re-certification

ITCPH re-certification audit

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) Central Office has retained certification for its Quality Management System (QMS) under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2015) after a successful virtual audit last November 20, 2020 by TUV-SUD PSB Philippines Inc., a management systems solution provider.

The re-certification was issued to the Institute after it demonstrated continued implementation and compliance of its QMS to the international standards.

DA-ATI Hosts Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Family Farming

QUEZON CITY --- The Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) convened some officials of DA bureaus and agencies for its first of the series of consultative meetings to develop the Philippines’ National Action Plan on Family Farming (NAPFF). This is in support to the United Nations’ Decade of Family Farming 2019-2020 (UNDFF) in addressing the challenges experienced by farm families.

PH Partners with Taiwan for Youth in Agriculture

MAKATI CITY -- Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), represented by Assistant Director Rosana P. Mula, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO), through Ambassador Michael Pieyung, enhancing the existing friendly relations between the agriculture and fishery authorities.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Top rice producers in the country were recognized in the 2019 Rice Achievers Awards in a small ceremony held at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management Convention Hall in Quezon City, November 27.

Ten provinces received awards with cash prize worth Php4 million each during the ceremony. Meanwhile, members of 10 National and Communal Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) and six Small Water Irrigation Systems Associations (SWISA) received their awards with cash prize worth Php1 million each.
