It is rare for someone to base their own happiness and satisfaction from the success of others, but for Gemma Cania, or Ma’am Gem as she is fondly called, the contented smiles of her clients have been her real joy for almost 15 years of being a public servant.

Digging Deeper, Aiming Higher

A resident of Poblacion, Dumaran, Palawan, Dennis Aba graduated from the ATI’s Dual Training System Program in Agriculture Entrepreneurship for Out-of-School Youth in September 2013 as part of the first batch of scholars in Palawan.

“With persistence and perseverance, success is possible,” expresses 25-year-old Dennis Abaas he recounts his farming journey.

ATI Calabarzon holds TOT on RCEF under New Normal

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - In support to the Republic Act No. 11203 otherwise known as the "Rice Tariffication Law," the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Calabarzon rolls out the first Training of Trainers (TOT) on Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

The training follows the standard protocols on social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand washing to ensure prime health and safety of the participants and trainers.

“Investment in agriculture can help revive food production and create jobs following a crisis and enable rural communities to recover.”

According to Agriculture Secretary William Dar, the government must continue to partner with the local government units and the private sectors, to increase food sufficiency levels, and modernize and industrialize the country’s agri-fishery sector.

DA to Use Satellite Technology for Crop Insurance

In an effort to digitize Philippine agriculture, the Department of Agriculture (DA) through Planters Products Inc. (PPI) and the Satsure AG signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on June 8, to provide better crop insurance in the country using satellite technology.

The MOA signing was witnessed by Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) President Atty. Jovy Bernabe.
