DILIMAN, Quezon City—New Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar has urged private sector partners and agriculture enthusiasts to support the growth of moringa farming in the country to become a highly profitable enterprise from being a backyard industry.

“This [industry] will not only bring us more economic opportunities and increased income but will also contribute to the wellness and good health of the people,” Dar said.

"You should start right by having a master plan–a field lay-out–to avoid losses resulting from poor field planning," he said. He then discussed how a planting program helps provide continuous supply of vegetables to the target market, which should also be based on household and market preference.

With the help of experts from the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Siniloan Campus, some 490 individuals learned about the importance of KSA in growing and processing mushroom.
