These are what would come to greet you should you be able to walk past the strict security at the Visayas State University's main gate and visit the ATI RTC 8 office. From the usual office conundrum of whirring printers and glaring laptop and desktop monitors, the silence is something for the books. You can now hear the birds chirp!
All these belie the true nature of what ATI is actually doing.
When Dr. Khin Mar Cho said last year that she will discuss and share with us what Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) is all about, she never promised a date or a timeline in our previous conversations. She just did it the moment she had the window of opportunity to visit this side of the region again.
Just this weekend, I met Dr. Khin Mar Cho, Director at Cornell University in New York City for a farm visit and weekend getaway at the Binahon Agroforestry Farm (BAFF) in Lantapan, Bukidnon and EMV Farm in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
DILIMAN, Quezon City - Agriculture enthusiasts from different parts of the metro and nearby provinces were oriented on the recommended technologies and practices on management of swine in the Free Seminar on Swine Production and Meat Processing.
Resource speakers from the Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center for Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH) provided lectures and hands-on demonstration regarding the topic. Jenny Hornilla, development management officer from ATI-ITCPH, shared the advantages of swine production at present.
One look and one would think that this fruit is of Tamaranean or Thanagarian origin---very alien! What with the pink dragon-like scales and inside flesh filled with teeny-weeny black seeds.
Once considered as exotic and expensive, this emerging hot commodity being yanked out from obscurity is slowly becoming popular among the health conscious and foodies like me in the form of a smoothie, juice, fruit shake, salad or as a cocktail mix.
