2019 Rice Achievers Awards Celebrate Lifelong Service of Industry Champions

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture (DA), through its bureaus and attached agencies, capped off this year’s National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) with the conduct of the 2019 Rice Achievers Awards (RAA) ceremonies.

RAA is an annual event that recognizes the efforts of outstanding rice producers in the Philippines. It is a way of motivating and showing appreciation for institutions, groups, and individuals for their contributions to the food sufficiency thrust.

ATI Training Centers Kick Off NRAM 2020 with Free Webinar Series

As it joins the nationwide call to “Grow Local. Buy local. Eat local. #SupportOurRiceFarmers” in celebration of the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) this November, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) brings its extension services to a new level to reach more farmers and consumers in the country.

With the “new normal” protocols requiring less physical contact, the ATI used online media to drum up collective support for Filipino rice farmers, particularly to encourage stakeholders to buy local harvests at a reasonable price and patronize locally produced rice.

UP Jeepney Drivers’ Association Gears Up for Urban Gardening

DILIMAN, Quezon City— Members of the UP Jeepney Drivers’ Association in Quezon City are now ready to shift gears and start a new venture to support their livelihood amid the pandemic.

This is after receiving free urban agriculture starter kits from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) under the “Plant, Plant, Plant” Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

RCEF Extension Services Benefit Over 18,000 Rice Farmers

DILIMAN, Quezon City—Over 18,360 farmers have now been trained through the Farmers’ Field School (FFS) under the Rice Extension Services Program (RESP) of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

This was reported during the RCEF-RESP team meeting conducted virtually on September 9, 2020. These farmers received training at different Farm Schools starting 2019 and were supported through scholarship vouchers as part of the program.
