In partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Sablayan, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MiMaRoPa conducted the first batch of Training of Trainers (TOT) on Refresher Course on Cassava Production at Adventure Camp Resort, Brgy. Poblacion, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on April 26-28, 2022.

The three-day TOT aims to equip the participants with skills and knowledge of cassava production technologies.

Mr. Monchito Jalac of the ATI in MiMaRoPa discussed his topics on cassava cultural management, cassava nursery establishment, and cassava variety identification. The participants also learned the pests and diseases management as well as the harvest and post-harvest management of cassava.

The participants actively participated in the hands-on activity of gathering data on pests and diseases of cassava during their visit to one of the cassava plantations in the said municipality. The said gathered data were presented by the participants during their workshop sessions.

“Marami na po akong nasalihan na pagsasanay tungkol sa cassava production, ngunit kahit na ganun ay marami pa rin akong natutunan sa pagsasanay na ito. Salamat ATI sa pagpunta po dito sa aming probinsya upang maihatid sa amin ang dekalidadad na pagsasanay. Siguraduhin po naming na ito ay maibahagi namin sa ating mga magsasaka na nagtatanim ng cassava,” Ms. Evangeline Veloria of MAO-Mamburao shared.

A total of 21 agricultural extension workers attended the said training.
