ATI in MiMaRoPa Strengthens and Capacitates 4-H Members

SAN JOSE, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – To strengthen and capacitate the 4-H members and their organizations, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MiMaRoPa conducted a training tagged as “EGGciting Enterprise for the Youth: A Livelihood Training with Leadership” on April 5-7, 2022 at the Seasons Hotel and Convention Center, Brgy. San Roque, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Attended by 22 4-H members, the training provided the participants an option or livelihood opportunities. The topics focused on chicken production, leadership, and re-orientation of the 4H club.

With the discussion on the 4-H Club, the participants recalled its meaning, goals, principles, ceremonies, rituals, and history.

Ms. Marichu G. Castro discussed the topic of Leadership. Through the team-building activities, the 4-H members were able to practice their leadership styles. Also, the activity allowed them to convene and conceptualize plans for attaining the organizations’ goals and objectives.

During the three-day activity, they learned the breeds of egg-laying free-range chicken and the different production technologies and practices that they could apply on the farm. As part of the hands-on activities, they were able to prepare organic concoctions.

"Na-appreciate ko ang mga kapwa ko participants sa training na ito. Kahit first time lang natin magkita ay naging close na tayo. Marami kaming natutunan kung saan pwedeng magkaroon kami ng pagkakakitaan kahit nasa bahay lang kami lalo na ngayong pandemic, “Mr. Eugene G. Cruz, 4-H Club Sablayan member shared.

Upon the availability of the chickens for dispersal under the Livestock Program, all graduates of the said training will receive a pair of pullet and cockerel.
