The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) MiMaRoPa joins the celebration of the 2021 National Women’s Month to give due recognition to the contributions of every Juana in the society.
This year’s celebration themed “Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya! serves as a tribute, a platform, and a call to action that highlights the extraordinary roles of ordinary Juanas in the society as trailblazers and harbingers of change. It also aims to give an avenue to discuss and address the issues that women continue to face, so that empowerment can be fully achieved. The said campaign is also a call for concrete, sustainable and inclusive actions towards gender equality.
Moreover, this also highlights women’s participation and contribution in fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
In line with this, the ATI MiMaRoPa lined up several activities and initiatives for the month-long celebration. This included the conduct of series of online talakayan every Wednesdays of the week highlighting gender equality, the Magna Carta of Women and other relevant laws concerning the rights and protection of women. These series of online talakayan consisted of five parts/themes, namely, “Sino si Juana?”, “Magna Carta ni Juana”, “Karapatan ni Juana, Una!”, Kumusta ka, Juana?” and “Si Juana at ang ATI ngayong Pandemya” were broadcast via ATI MiMaRoPa's official facebook page (ati-mimaropa).
Likewise, the Center initiated online advocacies dubbed as “#JuanaInspire Challenge encouraging netizens and other stakeholders to send photos featuring inspirational stories or quotes for Filipino women and also those men whose jobs are stereotypically labeled as a woman’s job. Additionally, ATI MiMaRoPa launched a photo contest dubbed as “Sa Kaalaman at Kakayahan ni Juana sa Agrikultura, Kayang kaya ang Pandemya” emphasizing the significant roles and contributions of women in the agriculture sectors. These were posted in the official social media sites of ATI MiMaRoPa.
Aside from these, the staff of ATI MiMaRoPa took part in the said celebration by wearing purple shirt/dress on the first Monday and succeeding Thursdays of the month to show their support and join the call to advance women’s rights and gender equality and end discrimination against women.
Indeed, ATI MiMaRoPa is committed to initiate noteworthy activities that will enable every Juana to develop their full potentials and capacities especially in agricultural extension even amidst this pandemic.
The National Women’s Month is being celebrated every March by virtue of Proclamation No. 227, series of 1988.
