Strengthening the Agriculture Among Youth thru FFS

The Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center MiMaRoPa under the Organic Agriculture Program is conducting two batches of Farmer’s Field School. The first batch of FFS themed “Kabataan ay Hikayatin, Organikong Pagsasaka ay Palaganapin” is participated by 25 selected K-12 students of Porfirio G. Comia Memorial National Highschool, Brgy. Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. The said FFS aims to inform K-12 students about the Organic Agriculture, its principles as well as its application. Lectures and hands-on demonstration Organic Vegetable Production and its management were employed during sessions. They also established their own nursery wherein the knowledge gained from FFS including proper care and management of plant was applied. The students also experienced the actual preparations of organic fertilizers and concoctions.

On the other hand, the second batch of FFS is held at Odiongan Romblon with 30 participants. The FFS also includes series of lectures about Organic Farming System and Organic Agriculture Production. They also established a site which serves as their training ground showcasing their organic farming practices.

The 2 batches of FFS started last September 7 and October 11, 2018 and will end on December 14 and 18, 2018 respectively.
