EYEING FOR MORE FARM TOURISM SITES

ORIENTAL MINDORO - Pushing for a vibrant tourism activities in the province, ATI MiMaRoPa had its jumpstart to strengthen the emerging and developing farm destinations thru its Training on Farm Tourism on April 10 – 12, 2018.

The training held at Gabutero’s Organic Farm (also known as ATI Integrated Learning and 4H Camp), an assisted farm of ATI and the one and only Department of Tourism accredited farm tourism site in MiMaRoPa.
Twenty-two (22) learning site co-operators and different stakeholders from the province shared, learned and became updated on the varying technologies and trends in farm tourism.

Aside from lectures on the farm tourism law, its advantages and benefits to farmers and communities, the participants visited the Gabutero’s Organic Farm and some learning sites/schools for practical agriculture such as Kwatro Maria’s Farm and SWAN Sustainable Farms and Station to observe their farm lay-out, components and farmer’s best practices.

Moreover, as part of the workshop, participants created their own farm tourism plan in their respective area.

According to the participants, this opens possibilities for increasing income for small-scale farmers while promoting sustainable agriculture and community involvement.
