“Kaalaman, Impormasyon at Teknolohiya sa Wastong Paghahayupan Kikita Ka”, a famous tagline that captured the heart of SOA livestock farmers.

In his message, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Kristoferson Gonzales encouraged the livestock farmers to apply what they have learned in the program. He assured that with the right technology, system and methods they could earn more income in livestock production. Also, he hoped that the program will continue so that it will help more farmers.

The SOA Livestock Program was spearheaded by the Provincial Agriculture Office of Occidental Mindoro along with the Municipal Agriculture Office and FITS Centers in the province. It ran from September to November 2017, where the farmer enrolees were given quizzes and exams to measure their knowledge in the program.

During the event, ten outstanding farmers from various municipalities in the province received ten heads of native pig from the Livestock Program as a starter pack for their livestock production while another ten heads of pig and three heads of goat were raffled to farmer-graduates.

Of the 465 graduates, 225 vegetable farmers are from the municipalities of Sablayan, 115 from San Jose, 30 from Rizal, 29 from Magsaysay, 26 from Mamburao, 25 from Abra de Ilog and 15 from Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro.

With its theme, “Hayop sa Kaalaman: Hanep-buhay sa Paghahayupan,” the SOA program was aired every Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 to 7:30 AM on 104.9 Heart FM San Jose and every Saturday at 10:00 to 11:00 AM and Sunday at 1:00 to 2:00 PM on 103.3 FM Radyo Natin Sablayan.
